INDICATION

 

Vepridone 1mg Tab is an atypical antipsychotic indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and adolescents aged 13 years and older, including both acute episodes and long-term maintenance therapy. It is also indicated for the short-term treatment of acute manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder, either as monotherapy or as an adjunct to mood stabilizers such as lithium or valproate.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

 

1: Adults with schizophrenia: Start with 1mg twice daily on day one, increasing to 2mg twice daily on day two, then 3mg twice daily on day three, as tolerated.

2: Bipolar mania: 2 to 3mg once daily, adjustable by 1mg increments at 24-hour intervals.

3: Pediatric autism (irritability): Begin at 0.25mg or 0.5mg daily based on body weight; adjust gradually.

4: Can be taken with or without food.

5: Do not stop or alter the dose abruptly; always consult your prescribing physician before making any changes.

Carbamazepine and other CYP3A4 inducers significantly reduce risperidone plasma levels, potentially requiring dose increases; dose reduction is necessary if the inducer is discontinued. Fluoxetine and paroxetine increase risperidone concentrations. Concurrent use with other CNS depressants, including benzodiazepines and opioids, increases the risk of sedation and respiratory depression. QT-prolonging agents such as amiodarone, sotalol, and certain antipsychotics may have additive effects.
