INDICATION

Rabekan 20mg is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) containing Rabeprazole Sodium, prescribed for a wide range of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders. MECHANISM OF ACTION

Rabeprazole Sodium acts by irreversibly binding to and inhibiting the hydrogen-potassium ATPase enzyme system (commonly known as the proton pump) located in the secretory canaliculi of gastric parietal cells. This enzyme is the final step in the acid secretion process, and its inhibition results in a profound and long-lasting suppression of both basal and stimulated gastric acid output. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

●     For GERD and erosive esophagitis: 20mg once daily for 4 to 8 weeks.

●     For duodenal ulcer: 20mg once daily for 4 weeks.

●     For gastric ulcer: 20mg once daily for up to 6 weeks.

●     As part of H. pylori eradication: 20mg twice daily in combination with two antibiotics for 7 days.

●     Take the tablet before meals, preferably in the morning.

●     Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew as this affects the enteric coating.
