MOKSI TABLET 5S

Moksi Tablets Online At Best Price In Pakistan

GENERIC: Moxifloxacin 400mg

MANUFACTURER: Abbott Laboratories Pakistan

QUANTITY

5 Tablets

INDICATION

Moksi Tablet is a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible strains in adults. It is commonly prescribed for community-acquired pneumonia, acute sinusitis, acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, and skin and soft tissue infections. Moksi's excellent penetration into respiratory tissues makes it a preferred choice for pulmonary infections involving both typical and atypical pathogens. It also covers anaerobic bacteria, which extends its use to complicated intra-abdominal infections.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Moxifloxacin kills bacteria by blocking two important enzymes, DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which bacteria need to copy and repair their DNA. By stopping these enzymes, moxifloxacin causes double-strand DNA breaks that the bacteria cannot fix, leading to cell death. This dual action makes it effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including some strains that have become resistant to older fluoroquinolones.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Adults: One 400mg tablet once daily for 5–10 days as per infection type.

Take with a full glass of water, with or without food.

Avoid antacids, dairy products, and iron supplements within 4 hours of dosing.

Complete the full prescribed course to prevent recurrence or resistance.

Not recommended in patients under 18 years of age.

SIDE EFFECTS

      Nausea and abdominal discomfort

      Diarrhea

      Headache and dizziness

      QT interval prolongation

      Photosensitivity

NOT RECOMMENDED IN

Moksi Tablet is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin or other fluoroquinolones. It should not be used in patients with congenital or acquired QT prolongation, uncorrected electrolyte disturbances, or those taking other QT-prolonging drugs. Fluoroquinolones are contraindicated in patients with myasthenia gravis as they can worsen neuromuscular blockade.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Moksi should not be combined with other QT-prolonging agents, including certain antiarrhythmics, antipsychotics, and antihistamines, due to the risk of severe cardiac arrhythmias. Aluminum- or magnesium-containing antacids reduce moxifloxacin bioavailability and should be taken at least 4 hours before or after Moksi. Concomitant use with warfarin may potentiate anticoagulant effects, requiring close INR monitoring.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture. Keep in original blister packaging and out of reach of children. Do not use beyond the expiry date.
