MILTO SYRUP

MILTO SYRUP ONLINE AT BEST PRICE IN PAKISTAN

GENERIC: Iron + Folic Acid + Vitamin B12 (Hematonic Syrup)

MANUFACTURER: SOIS Pharma

QUANTITY

120ml syrup

INDICATION

Milto Syrup is a hematonic supplement indicated for the prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anemia, nutritional anemia, and conditions associated with deficiency of iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12. It is prescribed during pregnancy and lactation to support increased iron demands, in growing children with dietary iron deficiency, in patients recovering from chronic illness or surgery with blood loss, and in individuals with poor dietary intake of essential hematological nutrients.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Iron is an essential mineral required for the synthesis of hemoglobin in red blood cells and myoglobin in muscle tissue. It serves as a critical component of oxygen transport and cellular energy production. Folic acid is a cofactor in DNA synthesis and red blood cell maturation, and its deficiency leads to megaloblastic anemia. Vitamin B12 supports normal erythropoiesis and neurological function. Together, these three components address the most common nutritional causes of anemia.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

·        Adults: 10ml (two teaspoonfuls) twice daily or as directed by the physician

·        Children 6 to 12 years: 5ml once or twice daily

·        Children 1 to 5 years: 2.5ml once daily or as advised

·        Best taken after meals to reduce stomach upset and improve iron absorption

·        Take with a source of vitamin C to enhance iron absorption

·        Use the provided measuring cup or spoon for accurate dosing

SIDE EFFECTS

Common:

·        Dark or black stools, which is a normal and harmless effect of iron supplementation

·        Nausea and mild stomach discomfort, especially on an empty stomach

·        Constipation or diarrhea

·        Temporary staining of teeth if liquid contacts them directly

Less common:

·        Abdominal cramping and bloating

·        Metallic taste in the mouth

·        Vomiting in sensitive individuals

·        Allergic reactions (rare)

NOT RECOMMENDED IN

Iron overload conditions including hemochromatosis and hemosiderosis

Patients receiving repeated blood transfusions with elevated iron stores

Known hypersensitivity to any component

Concurrent use with antacids or tetracycline antibiotics without spacing doses

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Iron significantly reduces the absorption of tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, levodopa, methyldopa, and levothyroxine. These medications should be taken at least 2 hours apart from iron supplementation. Antacids, calcium supplements, and proton pump inhibitors reduce iron absorption. Vitamin C enhances iron absorption. Chloramphenicol may delay the hematological response to iron therapy.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

Store below 25 degrees Celsius. Protect from light. Keep the bottle tightly closed. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children, as iron overdose in children can be serious.
