MEDITEAL DROPS
MEDITEAL DROPS ONLINE AT BEST PRICE IN PAKISTAN
GENERIC: Hypromellose + Dextran
MANUFACTURER: Medipak Limited
QUANTITY
10ml eye drops
INDICATION
Mediteal Drops are an artificial tear preparation indicated for the symptomatic relief of dry eye syndrome (keratoconjunctivitis sicca), including conditions caused by reduced tear production, excessive tear evaporation, or imbalanced tear film composition. They are also used to relieve eye dryness and irritation caused by environmental factors such as wind, air conditioning, prolonged screen use, and contact lens wear.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Hypromellose is a semisynthetic cellulose derivative that forms a clear, hydrophilic film over the corneal and conjunctival surface, mimicking the aqueous layer of the natural tear film and retaining moisture. Dextran is a polysaccharide that increases the viscosity and stability of the tear film. Together, they supplement deficient tear production and stabilize the precorneal tear film.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
· Instill 1 to 2 drops in the affected eye(s) as needed, typically 3 to 4 times daily
· For severe dryness, drops may be used every 1 to 2 hours until symptoms improve
· Remove contact lenses before instillation and wait 15 minutes before reinserting
· Blink gently after instillation to spread the solution evenly
· May be used long-term as maintenance therapy for chronic dry eye
SIDE EFFECTS
Common:
· Temporary blurred vision immediately after instillation
· Mild stinging or discomfort upon application
· Slight sticky sensation on the eyelids
Less common:
· Allergic conjunctivitis or eyelid dermatitis in sensitive individuals
· Eye redness or increased tearing paradoxically in some patients
· Crusting on eyelashes with frequent use
NOT RECOMMENDED IN
· Known hypersensitivity to hypromellose, dextran, or any preservative in the formulation
· Active eye infection without concurrent antimicrobial treatment
· Do not use if the solution appears cloudy or discolored
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Artificial tears generally have no significant drug interactions. If used alongside other ophthalmic medications, instill the other medication first and wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before applying Mediteal Drops.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
Store below 25 degrees Celsius. Protect from light. Do not freeze. Discard within 4 weeks of first opening. Keep the bottle tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children.
