MAXINOIN 20MG CAPSULE ONLINE AT BEST PRICE IN PAKISTAN
GENERIC: Isotretinoin 20mg
MANUFACTURER: Maxitech Healthcare (Pvt) Ltd
QUANTITY:
30 capsules per pack
INDICATION
Maxinoin 20mg Cap is a retinoid indicated for the treatment of severe recalcitrant nodular acne that has not responded to conventional therapy including systemic antibiotics. It is the most effective treatment available for severe acne and is often curative, producing long-term remission after a single course of therapy.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Isotretinoin is a vitamin A derivative (retinoid) that acts on all four major pathogenic factors of acne. It dramatically reduces sebaceous gland size and sebum production, normalizes follicular keratinization to prevent comedone formation, inhibits Cutibacterium acnes proliferation indirectly through reduced sebum, and exerts anti-inflammatory effects on the skin. Its prolonged effect on sebaceous gland function explains why a single course often produces sustained remission lasting months to years after treatment ends.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
• Adults: 0.5mg/kg/day initially; maintenance 0.5 to 1mg/kg/day in divided doses
• Cumulative target dose: 120 to 150mg/kg over the full treatment course (typically 4 to 6 months)
• Take with food to improve absorption; swallow capsules whole
• Always follow the dose and monitoring schedule strictly prescribed by your dermatologist
SIDE EFFECTS
Common:
• Dry lips, mouth, and skin (cheilitis) — very common; use lip balm throughout treatment
• Dry eyes and nose, nosebleeds
• Elevated triglycerides and cholesterol (monitor lipid profile)
• Skin fragility, peeling, and increased sun sensitivity
Less common:
• Teratogenicity — causes severe fetal malformations; strict pregnancy prevention mandatory
• Depression, mood changes, and suicidal ideation (monitor mental health closely)
• Elevated liver enzymes; hepatotoxicity (monitor LFTs)
• Musculoskeletal pain, arthralgia, and myalgia
NOT RECOMMENDED IN
• Pregnancy and women of childbearing potential not using two effective contraceptive methods simultaneously
• Breastfeeding women
• Severe hepatic impairment or severely elevated lipid levels
• Known hypersensitivity to isotretinoin, vitamin A, or any retinoid
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Vitamin A supplements and other retinoids must not be taken concurrently with isotretinoin due to additive risk of hypervitaminosis A toxicity. Tetracycline antibiotics combined with isotretinoin significantly increase the risk of intracranial hypertension (pseudotumor cerebri); this combination is contraindicated. Progestogen-only contraceptives (mini-pill) may be less effective with isotretinoin; use combined oral contraception or additional barrier methods. St John's Wort may reduce contraceptive efficacy and should be avoided during treatment.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
Store below 25°C in a dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep in original blister packaging. Keep out of reach of children.
