INDICATION

Manipram 20mg is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder in adults. It is also used in the management of panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder. Citalopram is effective in improving mood, energy levels, sleep patterns, and appetite disturbances associated with depression. MECHANISM OF ACTION

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

•      Continue treatment for at least 6 months after remission to prevent relapse.

The combination of citalopram with MAO inhibitors poses a severe risk of serotonin syndrome and is absolutely contraindicated. Co-administration with other serotonergic agents, including tramadol, triptans, or linezolid, may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome. QT-prolonging agents such as antiarrhythmics, antipsychotics, and certain antibiotics (e.g., azithromycin) should be avoided with citalopram. Warfarin and NSAIDs combined with citalopram may increase bleeding risk. CYP2C19 inhibitors such as omeprazole may increase citalopram plasma levels.
