INDICATION

Indyco 110mcg + 50mcg Caps is a fixed-dose dual bronchodilator indicated for maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction in adults with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It provides sustained 24-hour bronchodilation with once-daily dosing, reducing breathlessness, improving exercise tolerance, and decreasing the frequency of COPD exacerbations.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Indacaterol is a once-daily long-acting beta-2 agonist (LABA) that relaxes bronchial smooth muscle by stimulating beta-2 adrenergic receptors, producing rapid and sustained bronchodilation. Glycopyrronium is a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) that blocks M3 muscarinic receptors in airway smooth muscle, reducing cholinergic bronchoconstriction and mucus secretion. The dual LABA+LAMA mechanism provides complementary and additive bronchodilation, improving lung function more effectively than either agent alone.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

•      Adults: 1 capsule inhaled once daily at the same time each day

•      Use only with the Breezhaler or specified dry powder inhaler device; do not swallow capsules

•      Rinse mouth with water after each inhalation to reduce local side effects

•      Always follow the inhalation technique and dosing instructions prescribed by your doctor

SIDE EFFECTS

Common:

•      Concomitant use with other LAMAs or LABAs; avoid double LAMA or double LABA therapy

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Concurrent use of other anticholinergic agents increases the risk of additive anticholinergic side effects including urinary retention, dry mouth, and constipation; avoid combination. Beta-blockers, including ophthalmic preparations, may antagonize the bronchodilatory effect of indacaterol and should generally be avoided in COPD; if necessary, use cardio selective beta-blockers with caution. Potassium-depleting drugs such as diuretics, corticosteroids, and xanthine derivatives may potentiate hypokalaemia associated with beta-2 agonist therapy; monitor potassium levels.
