HAVRIX 720 JUNIOR VAC ONLINE AT BEST PRICE IN PAKISTAN
GENERIC: Hepatitis A Vaccine (Inactivated) 720 ELISA Units/0.5ml
MANUFACTURER: GlaxoSmithKline
QUANTITY
0.5 ml prefilled syringe
INDICATION
Havrix 720 Junior is an inactivated hepatitis A vaccine for active immunization of children and adolescents aged 1 to 15 years against hepatitis A virus infection. It is recommended for routine childhood vaccination programs, pre-travel immunization before visiting endemic regions, post-exposure prophylaxis within 14 days of contact, and for children at elevated risk including those with chronic liver disease or clotting factor disorders.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Havrix 720 Junior contains formaldehyde-inactivated hepatitis A virus (strain HM175) grown in human diploid cells, adsorbed onto aluminium hydroxide adjuvant. Following intramuscular injection, the inactivated viral antigens stimulate the adaptive immune system to mount a specific anti-HAV antibody response. Protective seroconversion occurs within 2 to 4 weeks of the initial dose in over 95% of recipients. A booster dose at 6 to 12 months provides long-term immunity estimated at 20 years or more.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
● Children 1 to 15 years: 0.5ml by intramuscular injection into the deltoid muscle
● Primary schedule: single 0.5ml dose
● Booster: 0.5ml at 6 to 12 months after the primary dose for long-lasting protection
● Do not administer intravenously or subcutaneously
● Must be administered by a qualified healthcare professional only
● Allow the vaccine to reach room temperature before injection; do not use if frozen
SIDE EFFECTS
Common:
● Injection site soreness, redness, or mild swelling
● Low-grade fever
● Irritability, fatigue, or loss of appetite in young children
Less common:
● Anaphylaxis in extremely rare cases, requiring immediate medical management
● Generalized allergic reactions including widespread urticaria
● Nausea, headache, or malaise
NOT RECOMMENDED IN
● Known severe hypersensitivity to any vaccine component including neomycin or a previous dose of hepatitis A vaccine
● Acute febrile illness; vaccination should be deferred until recovery
● Severely immunocompromised patients may mount an inadequate immune response
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Immunosuppressive therapy including systemic corticosteroids, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy may reduce the immune response to the vaccine. Havrix may be given at the same visit as other routine childhood vaccines provided different injection sites are used. Immunoglobulin given simultaneously at a separate site may reduce the antibody response slightly.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
Store in a refrigerator between 2 to 8 degrees Celsius. Do not freeze; discard the vaccine if it has been frozen. Protect from light. Use promptly after removal from refrigeration. Keep out of reach of children.
