INDICATION

Fungone 150mg Cap is a single-dose oral antifungal used for the treatment of uncomplicated vaginal candidiasis. It is also used for oropharyngeal candidiasis and as a convenient single-dose treatment option for superficial candidal infections. MECHANISM OF ACTION

Fluconazole inhibits the ergosterol biosynthesis pathway in Candida species by blocking 14-alpha sterol demethylase. The depletion of ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane results in functional disruption and inhibition of candidal growth. After oral administration of 150mg, peak plasma concentrations are reached in 1 to 2 hours, and vaginal concentrations remain above the minimum inhibitory concentration for most Candida species for up to 72 hours.
