INDICATION
Fucyn-H Cream 15G is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory skin conditions with concurrent or secondary bacterial infection caused by fusidic acid-susceptible organisms, including infected eczema, infected dermatitis, and superficial skin infections with inflammation.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Fusidic acid is a bacteriostatic antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by blocking elongation factor G on the ribosome, halting the translocation step. It is particularly effective against Staphylococcus aureus. Hydrocortisone is a mild corticosteroid that reduces inflammation by inhibiting the release of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. The combination addresses both the infectious and inflammatory components of complicated skin conditions.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
● Apply a thin layer to the affected area two to three times daily
● Rub gently into the skin
● Continue for up to 2 weeks unless otherwise directed by a physician
● Do not apply to the eyes or mucous membranes
● Wash hands after application
SIDE EFFECTS
Common:
● Mild burning or stinging at the application site
● Skin dryness or irritation
Less common:
● Skin thinning with prolonged use
● Development of bacterial resistance with extended fusidic acid use
● Perioral dermatitis if applied to the face repeatedly
