INDICATION

Frisium Tab is a benzodiazepine medication used for the management of anxiety disorders and as adjunctive therapy in epilepsy. It is indicated for short-term relief of severe, disabling anxiety in adults who have not adequately responded to other treatments, as well as for sleep disturbances associated with anxiety. In pediatric patients aged 4 years and older, Frisium is used alongside other antiepileptic medicines to manage partial refractory seizures and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. MECHANISM OF ACTION

Clobazam is a 1,5-benzodiazepine that enhances the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. By binding to the GABA-A receptor complex, it increases chloride ion influx into neurons, reducing neuronal excitability and producing anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, and sedative effects.

 

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

•      Take strictly as prescribed by your physician

•      Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water

•      Can be taken with or without food

•      Do not stop taking it abruptly; the dose must be tapered gradually under medical supervision. The duration of treatment should be as short as possible and not exceed 8 to 12 weeks for anxiety.

Alcohol must be avoided as it markedly enhances sedation. Certain anticonvulsants, such as carbamazepine and phenytoin, may reduce clobazam efficacy. Omeprazole may also affect its metabolism. Always inform your doctor of all medications being taken to prevent dangerous interactions.
