INDICATION

Diampa L XR 12.5+2.5+1000mg is a triple oral antidiabetic combination tablet indicated for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus who require additional glycemic control beyond what dual therapy can achieve. It combines three complementary mechanisms in a single extended-release tablet.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Empagliflozin (12.5mg) inhibits SGLT2 receptors, promoting urinary glucose excretion. Linagliptin (2.5mg) is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases active GLP-1 and GIP levels, enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion and reducing inappropriate glucagon release. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

·        One tablet once daily with a meal, preferably the evening meal.

SIDE EFFECTS

Common:

•      Nausea, diarrhea, or abdominal discomfort at initiation

•      Urinary tract or genital mycotic infections

•      Increased frequency of urination

Less common:

•      Nasopharyngitis or upper respiratory infections with DPP-4 component

•      Volume depletion in elderly or on diuretics

•      Rare hypoglycemia when combined with sulphonylureas or insulin
