INDICATION

D-Rich 2 Lac IU Soft gel Cap is a very high-dose vitamin D3 supplement used as a loading dose for the rapid correction of severe vitamin D deficiency. It is prescribed in patients with significantly low 25-OH vitamin D levels (typically below 12 ng/ml), osteomalacia, rickets, or hypoparathyroidism, when a rapid therapeutic response is required under medical supervision.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Cholecalciferol is converted in the liver to 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 and then in the kidneys to the biologically active 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (calcitriol). At 200,000 IU, a single dose rapidly replenishes hepatic vitamin D stores, generating sustained elevation of serum 25-OH vitamin D over several weeks. Calcitriol promotes intestinal calcium and phosphate absorption, supports bone mineralization, and modulates immune and parathyroid gland function.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

•      Loading dose: 1 soft gel capsule (200,000 IU) as a single oral dose under medical supervision

•      Repeat doses every 4 to 8 weeks if needed, based on serum 25-OH vitamin D levels

•      Take with a fatty meal for optimal absorption of this fat-soluble vitamin

•      Monitor serum calcium and 25-OH vitamin D levels before and after each dose

SIDE EFFECTS

Common:
